Hi Guys,
I bought the canvas buddypress child theme for the sole use of buddypress features, however, when I acticate the theme canvas-labzip, I am unable to view my site as it says ‘WooCommerce must be installed’.
Upon installing woo commerce, a feature I have no need for at the moment, it crashes my front end with a 500 internal error.
Can you shed any light on this?
Should I have the canvas-labzip theme activated permanently?
At what point should in install the buddypress plugin? Some speedy clarification with these issue’s would be most appreciated.
regards
Duncan
June 30, 2012 at 12:58 pm #2888Hi Dudes,
Managed to sort the above issues out, just needed to install buddypress plugin and it sorted.
However, I have a really annoying issue, I am trying to customise the header trough a background image, however, when I am logged in and the admin menu appears, it pushes down everything in the page except the background and this is playing hell with my menu alignment.
Can you provide some instruction as to how I can stop this from happening, ideally I want the bp admin bar on top of everything including the background.
Please also note that I am using the top menu in canvas so floatung over the top isn;t an option as it will block the view of my top menu.
Help would be gratefully received!
June 30, 2012 at 5:56 pm #2892Hi Duncan,
thanks for your purchase!Couple things:
1) We have a new release of 1.6.8 that will incorporate the new responsive Canvas features from Woo (Awesome!) and, more importantly, will give you the option to “not” use BuddyPress or WooCommerce. Problem solved
This release should drop over the weekend, and you will find it in your client area, no charge for the update of course!
2) In the meantime, we are happy to help you with some css layout issues. Might you be so kind as to share a URL where you are working with the theme, and we would be happy to give you some direct help. Alternatively, please at least provide a screenshot of what you are seeing, so we can better ascertain what is going one.
Cheers!
SpenceJuly 1, 2012 at 1:22 pm #2896Hi Spence,
The update sounds like it could solve a heap of issue, I’ve managed to sort the admin bar out, decided I don’t really need it at all and incorporated user navigation in the top menu.
For some reason the pagination isn’t working with magazine as the homepage, I am guessing this ‘may’ have something to do with WooCommerce, so if i can remove the need for this in my wp site then that may solve the pagination issue.
Apart from that, Its all good! I did upgrade to canvas 5.+ and it messed with my main menu css but as this site hasnt yet launched, there is no real problem.
cheers

How will I know where to download it from?

There are custom woocommerce functions, one of which suppresses the default pagination. You can find those inside of the child theme, in woocommerce foolder, in the woocommerce-layout.php file.
Besides that, yes, we think many of the layout issues in general from the old “fixed” canvas will be easier to manage with the new responsive version. We’re hoping to get this off the boards later today.

Sorry, we got slammed with a rush of custom work, combined with the mid-week holiday. Fell behind a day. Will try to launch it tomorrow morning for you!
Thanks for your patience.
